Title Training
As soon as you become a Member Agent for
ATGF, you are offered training in three phases, all
designed to build upon the previous training.
Level I
Orientation (2-4 hours)
Orientation offers the new member an
opportunity to become acquainted with the policies
and procedures specific to ATGF as well as the
basics of writing title commitments and policies.
This 2-4 hour course is conducted one-on-one with
your ATGF Member Services Representative, usually
in the office of the new member. The member is
encouraged to include key team members in this
course. Topics covered include:
Member Manual orientation
Basics on how to write a Commitment
ATGF Policies and Procedures
Basics on how to write a Policy
Guidelines on file set-up
How to figure premium rates
How to order a title search
How to remit to ATGF
Basics on how to examine documents
Guidelines on auditing
Level II
Commitment and Policy Workshop (one full day)
This Commitment and Policy Workshop is
facilitated at the offices of ATGF by a seasoned
title professional. It is strongly recommended that
all new members and their support team take
advantage of this basic but informative workshop.
The workshop offers a more in-depth look at the
nuances of writing title commitments and policies
than Orientation, and is a great follow-up to the
member's initial training. In addition, this
workshop gives the new member an opportunity to
become acquainted with the ATGF support team and
other new members of ATGF. This course is CLE
accredited for 6 credits.
Level III
Advanced Training
In addition to Level I and Level II training, ATGF
offers continuous support services to our members.
Our method is for the new member to participate in
Level I and Level II training and then to try his
hand at writing a commitment. Once he has written
the commitment, we request that he fax his work to
one of our title professionals for review. That
person will call the member and together, they will
review the work and make the necessary corrections
and/or additions. We find this to be the most
effective method for learning to write title work,
as each transaction is unique and it is only over
time that the member will feel completely
comfortable and confident that he is producing good
title work.
Underwriting Assistance
Levels I, II and III is just the beginning of
writing title insurance. The ATGF team is available
by phone or fax to answer all underwriting
questions outside the realm of your initial
training. The Member-Agent is encouraged to contact
ATGF with questions.
